From Secure Boot to AI Coding Agents: Why Trust Gaps Are the Real Vulnerability

← Back to all articles

On the surface, five recent stories from BleepingComputer look unrelated: a UEFI bootkit abusing an old Secure Boot flaw, a booby-trapped instruction file hijacking AI coding assistants, an abandoned BitTorrent client left wide open to remote code execution, Microsoft retiring Windows Server 2016, and Microsoft Teams getting AI-driven phishing detection. Looked at together, though, they describe the same underlying problem: security teams are extending trust to layers of the stack they no longer actively monitor, patch, or question.
